ECCL Champions Sporting Alfas ended the season in style with a convincing nine wicket victory over Valencia based Levante CC.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but were soon tottering at 23 for 4. Graham Hunt and Orville Senhouse played nicely as they tried to get Levante back in the game but in the final ball of the 15th over Hunt fell to a catch by Munoz off Kieran Perman with the drinks break looming.

Senhouse fell soon after drinks for a well crafted 60 and although the Levante tail wagged a little they were finally all out for a sub par 130.

Alfas made light work of the run chase after the initial hiccoup of losing opener Ward to his first ball. Joel Brook and Gary Crompton then batted with aplomb and offered little hope to the Levante bowlers in seeing the game through to a finish. Crompton ended 77 not out and Joel Brook 47 not out to give the champions maximum points and a great end to a successful season.

Alfas go forward to the national finals in November at La Manga wereit is planned that they will take on the winners of the Cataluyna, Lanzarote and Southern leagues.

Levante can still secure third place in their first ever season in the Premier league if they beat Madrid in the weekend double header in Valencia later this month.
