CATALUYNA LEAGUE ROUND UP
4 games in recent weeks in the Cataluyna section of the CE League have seen two victories recorded for Cataluyna A and one each for Minhaj and Fondo.
Cataluyna A made short work of both Cornella B and Falco. In the first game against Cornella the home side made 196 for 8 off their 25 overs. Asif Zia top scored with 56 for Cataluyna. Cornella B responded with a score of 140 for 9 from all their overs to lose by 56 runs. Spanish International Armaghan Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 25 off his 5 overs.
The following week Cataluyna recorded an 7 wicket victory over previous league champions Falco. Falco batted first and scored 127 for 7 but this was easily surpassed by the Cataluyna batsmen who chased down the total with 54 balls to spare.
There were league wins in Division A for Minhaj and Fondo. In a one sided game Minhaj beat Bengali by 142 runs. Minhaj scored a very impressive 211 for 5 from their 25 overs. Bengali could only muster 69 all out with Tushan being the only batsman to reach double figures.Rauf and Numn took 3 wickets each for the Minhaj bowling attack.
The final scorecard in the round up saw Fondo do even better and record an 162 run victory over Cornella B. Fondo scored 194 all out from 24 of their 25 overs but a dismal batting performance saw hem all out for 33 with not one batsman reaching double figures. All the Fondo bowlers troubled the weak Cornella batting but Faisal had the most impressive figures, yielding figures of 3 for 12 from his 4 over bowling spell
