Today the Cataluyna Cricket Federation got the news they had been waiting for. It was confirmed that their project to reform the sports ground at Julia Campany for cricket and minority sports had received enough votes from the Barcelona public to get the green light to go ahead.
The results showed that the project had received 2,890 votes from local residents in the District of Sants-Montjuic, and the sheer number of voters is a testament to all the hard work that cricket fans in that region have put into making this dream become a reality.
The ground, near the Montjuic baseball stadium is currently used most weekends cricket clubs in the region and for Junior boys and girls training sessions. The commencement of the project will take place soon and funding will be designated to the reformation of the ground.
This project was presented by the Girls cricket team of the project “Cricket Jove Barcelona” and was organised by the African study and intercultural centre (CEIA) and the Foundation for Sport Education of Barcelona (FEEB)
The result reflects all the hard work done by these organisations and key personnel in the Cataluyna Cricket Federation.
Congratulations to all in Barcelona on this fine achievement !
