Today Kieran Wood of La Manga Torrevieja Cricket Club shares his thoughts with Cricket España readers on captaincy …
Captaincy for LMTCC is a workload. However, it is the same in every sporting team.
What makes a good captain is being able to keep everyone happy, listening to the team, and bringing the best out of everyone on the field of play.. In LMTCC, everyone has potencial to play great cricket and everyone wants to be in the starting XI which is also great thing to have.

Luckily for me, everyone has a positive attidude and we work together as a team to make sure the atmosphere is enjoyable for everyone. I, as a player, and a captain, have great help from the coaches, who are consantly giving me heads up and tips on the game. I am also fortunate to have a brilliant committee who are always working to make the the club the best it can be, and a big group of players who show great support for the club and help me out when needed.
A couple of my favourite highlights from being captain of LMTCC in the last year, are when we were victorious in the T20 tournament in La Manga. During that competition we used a total of 23 different players that all participated in at least one of the six games we played over the weekend, in which we won five out of the six games, including the final.

The other highlight was our first ever tour as LMTCC to Cartama, Malaga for halloween. Many hours of drinking and partying thoughout the weekend, but it wasnt enough to stop the energy and team work on the cricket field as four wins from five games saw our first tour, lead to our second trophy of the year.
