The latest game in the Cataluyna League saw El Carmel match up against Barcelona Eagles and it was the latter that emerged victorious.
After winning the toss the Eagles invited El Carmel to bat. They lost Mohsin and Shehzad early on but Rizwan and Sumir batted well and got their side into a good position by scoring 22 and 31 respectively. The middle order contributed little before a flurry of runs from Asif (14) and Asad Bajwa (24) ensured El Carmel posted the respectable total of 174 all out on the Videres ground. Imitiaz put in a fine bowling effort for the Eagles taking four precious wickets for just 20 runs.
In reply the Eagles had very little trouble in chasing down a quite competitive total and did so with seven wickets to spare. An unbeaten fourth wicket partnership between Shamzad (44 not out) and Imitiaz (46 not out) was the highlight of the cricketing day.
As a result of their comprehensive victory the Eagles join Llobregat and Girona Warriors at the top of their group table.
Barcelona Eagles 175 for 3 beat El Carmel 174 all out by 7 wickets.
