The latest league match in ECCL Division II saw a match up between Alicante Stars and Torrevieja and it was the Stars who went away with a 64 run victory.
Having been put into bat by Torrevieja the Stars were in desperate trouble at nought for two at the start of their innings. Another couple of cheap wickets had them still struggling at 44 for 4 when Nadeem and Ismael came together.
Their fifth wicket partnership of 112 turned the game back into the Stars favour. Ismael departed for 59 and Nadeem for 49 in close succession but that helped the Stars post a competitive target of 180 on the unpredictable Torry wicket. A McDowell was the pick of the home side bowlers, ending with figures of 4 for 30.
In reply Torrevieja could not match the Stars total despite a fine openers knock of 39 by Kieran Wood. Unfortunately, wthout the back up of no other major contributions Torry fell to 116 all out. Abdul with three wickets for eight runs and Shani with two wickets in his sole over mopped up the tail end.
The Stars took 18 points from the game whilst Torrevieja took 7 points.
Alicante Stars 180 all out beat Torrevieja 116 all out by 64 runs.
