ALFAS PUT PAY TO UNITED`S TITLE HOPES IN THE GROUP STAGES
Sporting Alfas turned in a great performance to put pay to Madrid United´s hopes of finishing top in this seasons Spanish development leagues group stages.
Alfas batted first and hit 214 for 7 off their allocated overs, Opener Geoff Evns top scored with 66, and he was ably supported by Spanish international Christian Munoz who scored 61.
In reply United were all out for 158 with Wahib top scored with 67. Spin bowler Paul Taylor turned back the years and bagged figures of 4 for 8 off 8 overs. The ex-Notts professional also included two maidens in his spell and was well supported by his team mates in the field, who took their chances well, when offered.
Alfas took 18 points from the match, whilst United had to be content with a final points tally of 5 from the game. Special thanks go to the Madrid team, who made their second consecutive journey to the Costa Blanca coast in consecutive weekends.
Madrid United will also miss out on the Development league final as a result of this match and Alcorcon will be playing Sporting Alfas for the right to be called Development League Champions on October 31st, at La Manga, the same day of the league play-off finals.
