Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 160 for 3 beat Madrid United 158 for 10
Kwvi Laundon reports
Saturday 23rd June and revenge was sweet, after SACC lost in the league opener against Madrid United only winning was on any players mind. Madrid batted first, Laundon removed the top order batsmen in quick time, at 10 overs only 37 runs on the board but 4 wickets gone, great start, Pennick, who for the last few weeks as taken wickets regularly, was left scratching hid head in disbelieve as the ball at times appeared to go through the stumps.
Fell replaced the unlucky Bowler and also found the Cabin end a unlucky place to bowl from as he also failed to grab a wicket. Taylor replaced Laundon and found his slow left armers could also remove batsmen Claiming 2 for 20 from his 9 overs, Crompton took control at the Cabin end and his wrist spin took out the other 4 batsmen reducing Madrid to 158 all out,
Muñoz was back in fine form and hit a very well placed 40 before misreading a slower delivery from Ashrif who gleefully took the catch,67 for 1 from 9 overs well ahead of the run rate,
Nadeem came in to join Spencer, who was hitting singles to all parts of the ground but some how the ball never reached the boundary, looked like a different batsman to the one that spanked the ball all over the place at La Manga, trying to up the run rate he fell to a good catch off Ashrif, who´s 2 for 45 was the only thing worth a mention in a lack luster Madrid attack. When Spencer finally gave up his wicket he had reached a really good 43.
Crompton and Tasker took the SACC team past the 158 needed with 29 and 28 runs, 20 points to a delighted Sporting Alfas Cricket Club first team and 3 points to Madrid United.
