Today´s Junior cricket interview is from Samaia, one of our gifted girl cricketers from Barcelona.

Cricket Interview

CE : What’s your name?
Samaia : My name is Samaia Basharat.
CE : How old are you?
Samaia : I’m 16 years old.
CE : At what age you start playing cricket, and where?
Samaia : When I was 8 or younger, I started playing cricket in Pakistan.
CE : What is your first memory of cricket?
Samaia : With my cousin, who knows how to play cricket very well, and my cousins and I couldn’t get him out.
CE : Under normal circumstances, where and when do you practice playing cricket?
Samaia : We practice in Montjuic in Barcelona, every Saturday at 2:00 p.m

CE : Do you see yourself as a batter or bowler?
Samaia : Before starting to play cricket 11, I only liked batting, but with time I liked to do bowling too and now I am all rounder.
CE :What, where and when do you think was your best performance to date?
Samaia : Well I have always played well, playing as my team can win, but I remember in the final practice class we have played a game to watch how we play with the hard ball, and I have played very well and after playing this game I am very excited that I can play well and I have to practice more to achieve and learn about cricket more.
CE : Why do you like to play cricket?
Samaia : Well, I really like doing sports, and cricket is the one I like very much because cricket was the first sport I started to play.
CE : What is the best thing about cricket in Spain?
Samaia : The best thing I like is people encourage you very much what you do.
CE : What if anything is the most disappointing thing about cricket in Spain?
Samaia : Bad thing is that people from Pakistan do not leave their daughters to play cricket, and they thinking very negative about other people.
CE : What’s your most memorable cricket experience in Spain?
Samaia . When I played Cricket first time ever in Barcelona. I never thought that I was going to play cricket in Spain.
CE : As a player, where would you like to see yourself in 15 years time?
Samaia : I don’t know, because I don’t see playing cricket in the future. Because I want to play like a professional and now I am in a country in a city, where we don’t even have a ground. So don’t know.
CE : Who is your favourite player and why?
Samaia : My favourite player are Virat Kohli, Babar Azam and Sana Mir. Babar and Virat because they are very good at cricket and I like they style how they play. And about Sana Mir because I like her bowling style.
CE : If you could have dinner tonight with any famous person in the world, who would it be and why?
Samaia : I would like to have dinner with Virat kohli and want to know about him and get tips about cricket. and also a famous singer because I love singing.
CE : What effect has Covid19 had on your young lives, for better or worse?
Samaia : About others I don’t know, but about me I think It was better and also worse. Better because I spend more time with my family know more about my religion and learn more things, and worse because I lost some people in Pakistan during lockdown and I could not go in Pakistan.
CE : Now that some of lockdown rules have been relaxed, what have you been able to enjoy that you couldn’t before?
Samaia : So now I can go out with friends but with mask.
CE : If you had a message to all people your age during these difficult times, what would it be?
Samaia : I want to say a message to all, please stay safe and don’t spread negativity around your sides and do what you want but without destroy or harming anyone.
