The Girona Premier League is now well under way with eleven teams competing for the trophy that Girona Warriors won last year.
To date four games have been completed. Match One saw Empuriabrava CC beat New Target CC by 31 runs. Empuriabrava batted first and scored 152 for 8 in their twenty overs. New Target tried hard but were bowled out for 121 in the 18th over.
Match Two was a contest between Olot Tigers and Garrotxa. In a thrilling match the Tigers were bowled out for 119 in the penultimate over of their innings. The game was in the balance right up to the last over when Garrotxa finally chased down the total with two wickets in hand.
Match Three saw New Target back in action again. This proved to be a better end product for them as they overcame newcomers Salt CC by 23 runs. Batting first New Target scored 149 for 6 from their overs allocation. Salt were finally bustled out in the 17th over after posting 126 all out on the scoreboard.
Last week was Match Four and it was a clash between Garrotxa and Girona Warriors. It was the best game to date with Garrotxa claiming a last ball victory. The Warriors had scored 120 all out in 19 overs but a fine bowling performance kept them well in the game. However, it was Garrotxa who prevailled with three wickets to spare.
