ECS Barcelona match day three saw the return of Group A to the Montjuic Arena and two new teams, Bangladesh Kings and Pakcelona enter the competition.

Rain overnight led to a delayed start and the first match of the day between Bangladesh Kings and United CC of Girona was restricted to eight over a side. United batted first and scored at eleven runs per over to end their innings on 88 for 1. The star for the Girona based club was Muhammad Ehsan who clubbed 56 not out off just 24 balls. Kings were equally aggressive and claimed victory with one ball to spare, despite losing one more wicket than United. Jubed Miah with 36 runs off 27 balls, and Kamrul Foysol`s 29 not out were the main reasons for the Kings victory.

Kings were straight back out for match two of the day and they made it two wins on the bounce with a 15 run victory over Cataluyna Tigers. Kings took to the batting crease first and posted all the nines, finishing on 99 for 9 from their overs allocation. Opener Shakel Mia hit 32 off a mere 15 balls, but the introduction of Ghulam Sarwar for the Tigers (three for 8) restricted the Bangladesh Kings total to under three figures.

The Tigers response was plucky but they lost key wickets at crucial times despite all of their first four batsmen reaching double figures at a strike rate of  at least a run a ball. Kamrul Foysol showed his all round qualities by mirroring Sarwar`s efforts for the Tigers, as he too ended with figures of three wickets for eight runs. Kings headed home for the day content with their positive start to the tournament.

The penultimate match of the day was between the Tigers and Badalona Shaheen. Shaheen took the spoils to compound the Tigers to a miserable day and two defeats. The Tigers were all out for 97 on the last ball of their innings with Davinder Singh top scoring for 39. Sitting pretty at 64 for 1 with more than five overs to go they lost their last nine wickets for a paltry 36 runs. Shafeer Muhammad and Malik Ul Rehman took six wickets between them in the four overs they bowled for an economical 22 runs. Shaheen were never tested with the bat and breezed to a seven wicket victory with 15 balls to spare. The damage was done by Hamza Saleem (46) and Dilawar Khan (31 not out) in a partnership that was worth 61 runs to the victors.

The last match of the day bought Pakcelona to the party, and they made a winning start at the expense of Fateh CC. Batting first the newcomers posted a total of 120 for 3. A century opening stand between Ishtiaq Nazir (53) and Qaiser Zulfiqar (48) put Pakcelona in the driving seat at the half way stage of the match. They carried that momentum into the field and restricted Fateh to 89 for 8 to claim a convincing 31 run victory. Tommorrow sees the second day of Group B action and the introduction of Gracia CC, Raval Sporting and Pak Montcada.
