Catalunya CC and Falco, Champions and runners-up from last month’s edition, enjoyed differing fortunes on day two of the European Cricket Series Barcelona.
Catalunya CC top the standings after maintaining their 100 per cent record with a narrow four run win victory against Minhaj. Ali Raza’s razor-sharp innings of 52 proved the difference over a much-improved Minhaj side.
Badalona Shaheen bounced back from a disappointing opening day to beat previously unbeaten Pak I Care with plenty to spare. Kuldeep Lal knocked the stuffing out of the Pak I Care batting with four wickets, including three scalps in one over. Kuldeep then added 32 off 17 balls as Badalona Shaheen cruised to a much-needed victory.
Bangladesh Kings had earlier got off the mark with a convincing win over Falco. Shakil Mia hit an unbeaten 46 off 22 balls as the Kings easily chased Falco’s moderate score of 92 with nine balls to spare.
However, the most impressive performance of the day again came from Pak I Care who romped to the target of 90 against Falco in only 4.4 overs thanks to a marvellous knock from Muhammad Ihsan with nine sixes in his unbeaten 21-ball 71
