ECS REPORT BY MARK LOVELL ON DAY FIVE OF THE BARCELONA BASH ..

Catalunya Tigers started with intent with two convincing wins at the European Cricket Series Barcelona. Making their tournament bow, Tigers totted up an impressive 148 with Aziz Mohammad and Davinder Singh both making 57. Raval Sporting, also making their first appearance at this edition, put up a good show in reply but Aziz Mohammad’s three wickets slowed their progress.

Batting first against Bangladesh Kings, Tigers posted another imposing total of 147 with Mohsin Ali (47), Davinder Singh (40) and Aziz Mohammad (37*) the main contributors. In reply, Kings were never up with the rate with Tigers captain Ghulam Sarwar applying the brakes with three victims.

Badalona Shaheen moved up to third with a resounding win over Fateh. Sami Ur Rehman took 3-4 to restrict Fateh to only 80 and Badalona Shaheen chased down the target after only 4.3 overs with Babar Khan going ballistic with 41 off 10 balls (4×4,4×6).

In the final match of the day, Catalunya regained the lead in the standings with the expected victory over Raval Sporting. Deposed leaders Pak I Care have played a game less as week one action comes to a close.
