Sporting Alfas having won the toss elected to field first and it seemed like a good choice as the Alfas bowlers dominated the first half of the innings with opener Bishbash for torrevieja being the only batsmen to reach double figures of 18 before being caught behind.
Torrevieja looked down and out as they reached the 12th over managing 43 and losing 5 wickets, but a fine late partnership from Captain Kieran Wood and experianced Adam Alger saw that the Torre side through to their alloted overs with 121 for 5.Wood finished 25 not out and Adam Algar 43 not out.
With the Torre side only managing to field 7 players, 122 looked like a chasable total. Torre got of to a good start when opening bowler Angus Mcdowell took the important wicket of Tyler Brown early in the innings.
His opening partner Jack Perman and Anton Bodarec set about a long and important partnership with Jack playing a very steady and important innings before being forced to retire at a stylish 30 not out.
A couple of wickets fell quickly in the middle session of the game which gave the Torre team a little spark of confidence. The Alfas boys kept the scoreboard ticking over all the way until the final few overs.
Kieran Perman batted out the remaining overs in a brave and fruitless attempt to see his team home. Kieran finished with a well earned 37 not out, but the Alfas boys finished 11 runs behind their required target on 111 for 3.
The match was played in a very competitive and yet friendly manner and was a great advertisment for the start of the junior season with both teams blooding in new fresh talent.
