Three games into the ECCL Division One League and it is already starting to be a competitive affair.
Madrid CC started proceeds with their customary 950 km round trip for consecutive matches against Pinatar Pirates and La MangaTorry at La Manga.
The Saturday game was a one sided event with Pinatar winning by 165 runs. Batting first Madrid restricted the Pirates to 213 all out and thus denying them their fifth batting point. Ravi Panchal top scored with 77 for Pinatar. In reply Madrid were skittled out for just 52. Jassi Singh recorded figues of 5 for twenty which also included the first hat trick of the season. Pinatar took 19 points from the game and Madrid took 6 points.
The following day Madrid´s batting made a much better account of themselves and their team just missed out on victory. The newbies in the league La MangaTorry squeezed home late in the day by just three wickets after Madrid had batted first and posted a score of 179 all out.
Sporting Alfas were the next to enter the league frame and they edged a very exciting contest with Levante. The visitors batted first and posted a total of 245 for six off their forty over allocation. Sandheep was the pick of the batsmen scoring an unbeaten century. In reply Alfas started well and were 79 for 1 off 15 overs with Jack Perman hitting 57. Timing their run chase to pefection they were indebted to a century by the Spanish National team captain Christian Munoz to get them over the line by four wickets.
