DOUBLE JOY FOR MADRID 2
After a close victory over SFL on Saturday, the Madrid second team consolidated their position at the top of the ECCL Development league with a second consecutive victory, this time at the expense of league newcomers Orihuela.
Madrid won the toss and elected to bat. Madrid batsman S Awan continued his fine form from yesterday and followed his 113 not out against SFL with a fine 58 not out in his teams total of 184 all out.
Orihuela responded valiantly in their first ever league game to record a total of 136 all out. As a result, Madrid ran out winners by 48 runs. However, Orihuela played an ineligible player and as a result Madrid received maximum points from the match and the newcomers to the league were deducted 10 points to leave them with a collective total of -3 points for the season so far.
