BOTH VALENCIA TEAMS TOO STRONG FOR MADRID
It was a weekend to forget for Madrid as their new season kicked off with two consecutive defeats against Valencia and Valencia Green respectively.
First up was Green who put in an excellent batting display to reach a total two shy of 300 off their allocated overs. Madrid put up a spirited challenge, clearing 200 but in the end they fell 96 runs shy of their required total. Valencia Green received maximum points from the game, whilst the capital club amassed 7 points-
The following day Madrid hosted the other club from Valencia and in an amazing game lost out by a solitary wicket. Madrid won the toss and elected to bat and it looked like an early trip back on the autovia to Madrid after being skittled out for just 70.
However, the Valencia batting was just as fragile and they eventually scraped home by one wicket, largely thanks to a 28 not out by the all rounder Ashan. Madrid got 4 points from the game, whilst Valencia went to the top of the table after recording their second consecutive victory.
