Torrevieja Cricket Club have two exciting events taking place on consecutive weekends in the town.
Saturday 22nd September (and Friday 21stif possible)
On these two dates there is an educational and sports event for literally hundreds of youngsters (I believe 14-17 years of age) at the CMO stadium behind Carrefour in Torrevieja. This is being organised by Torrevieja Town Hall in conjunction with Viva TV and is a great showcase opportunity for us and hopefully will bring in more recruits.
There will be football, rugby and a climbing wall to name just a few of the events. We are also participating. This is primarily aimed at youngsters so need to put out 2 or 3 teams as we did for street cricket but there is no reason why we older ones cannot put out a team as well
The event will again be organised by Jon Alger and Neil Brook (CE juniors coach)
Meeting points are La Marina at 09.30 and the arches at 09.45
The event is being sponsored by Viva TV, so if you want to see yourself on TV, please be there!! .

UPDATE ….Feedback on the EXPO from Torrevieja player Graham Shelton
Hello cricketers
Firstly many thanks to those of you who supported the Youth Expo in Torrevieja last Saturday. We had a good interesting day. For me the highlight was seeing the Spanish youngsters ask to play who picked up the basics very well. In fact they reminded us just what a simple game cricket can be! Let’s hope that we see then again
This Saturday, 29th September, we have our first game agianst a touring side, Old Wimbledonians, starting at 13.00 at the athletics track. Thank you to Barry Wright of the Costa Blanca News (best paper in Spain!) for promoting this event in last week’s edition. Should have some supporters and potential club members turn up
At the Youth Expo, I was approached by Television Torrevieja and asked if we would like to be interviewed in order to discuss and promote the game locally. This was an opportunity not to be missed, so the interview is taking place next Monday, 1st October at 19.00 in the TV studios. We have been asked to wear our whites and take along our kit, so who knows what will happen !
The invitation is for 4 (Spanish speaking) members so Leigh, Kieran and myself will be in attendance, so if Kieran can persuade another youngster along we will have two seniors and two juniors present; a good combination. I doubt if the interview will be live as they will need to edit out our language errors, so we will let you know when the transmission date will be
