The Umpire courses will be overseen and run by Ron Graham, Spain´s representative on the ICC Europe panel. The first course will be at Campoamar Golf Club on March the 7th and is already full. 15 candidates have been accepted for this course and they represent seven different clubs up and down the East coast of Spain. La Manga, Mojacar and Alfas have three representatives each on the course, and Bengali CC two representatives. Intellectuals, Albox and Falco complete the line up.
Candidates will be cover various topics including The role of the Umpire, The lbw law, main dismissals and calls and signals given to the scorers. The same course will be then taken to Madrid in the end of March and Lanzarote in the begining of April. These too will be co-ordinated and run by Ron Graham.
The coaching courses are earmarked for the end of February and the begining of April and will be run by the Spanish national coach and Lancashire CC employee Bobby Denning.
He becomes one of a select band of around 100 people – former England coach Peter Moores among them – to achieve the highest coaching qualification available in England and Wales.
