CRICKET CELEBRITY IN CATALUNYA

Mr. Farokh Enginner, Ex Cricketer of Indian cricket team Visited Barcelona last weekend on the occasion of the Catalan cricket league final, played on 6th October 2012. Mr. Farokh Enginner was present in the ceremony as speacial guest along with Mr. Albert Marco the director general of Sports on Catalunya and Mr. Miguel Esteven the chief of the immigration department of Catalunya.
Farokh Maneksha Engineer born 25 February 1938, in Mumbai is a former Indian cricketer of Parsi background who played 46 Tests for India and played first-class cricket for Mumbai in India and Lancashire in England. Engineer’s active international career started in 1961 and continued to 1975, and he was India’s first-choice wicket-keper for most of that period. He was also a highly useful, stylish and very aggressive batsman. He has also been a referee in the Indian Premier League (IPL)
The Catalan league final was won by Minhaj Cricket Club, defeating last years champions Cataluyna Cricket Club in a low scoring match, Catalunya CC batting fist, made 130 runs in 22 overs match ( reduced overs), and Minhaj CC made 140 runs in 21.2 overs in an easy chase.
Catalunya Cricket Association is very thankful to Mr. Farokh Enginner for sparing his time for visiting Barcelona. Catalan cricket is keen to grow with the expert’s guidance and are making efforts to promote cricket on a national and international level.
