BARCELONA 177 FOR 6 BEAT CORNELLA 176 ALL OUT BY 4 WICKETS
In the two games played this weekend at the Constanti ground in Tarragona there were wins for Barcelona and Falco over Cornella and Bengali respectively.
In Saturday`s match Cornella won the toss and elected to bat. After the loss of Imran cheaply Hasan and Navad put on 63 for the second wicket before Navid was bowled for 33 with the score on 78. A midwicket collapse pursued and it was largely thanks to a fine 60 by Hasan that Cornella reached a total of 172 all out off 33 overs.
In reply, useful contributions from Anil and Saqar early on put Barcelona in control but a couple of quick wickets by Cornella left the Barcelona side at 99 for 6. An undefeated partnerhip of 78 between Sajad (50 not out) and Ali (21 not out) saw the visitors home with six wickets to spare.
In the other weekend game Falco had a convincing win over Bengali that saw them exchange places at the top of the table with each other.Useful knocks by Saeed (58) and Tanveer (57) gave the home side a challenging total of 279 all out of their 33 overs.
Bengali`s reply fell 107 runs short as once again their batsmen failed to deliver. Riaz with 50 and Suman with 30 offered a temporary threat to Falco but when both players where dismissed the Bengali challenge evaporated quickly and Falco went to the top of the Costa League North table.
