The Copa Ciutat de Barcelona continues to progress nicely and with eleven matches gone it is nearing the business end of the competition.
Match One was between two newcomers Hira CC Sabadell and Barna Royals. The Royals batted first and posted a very impressive 177 for 9, that included a fine innings of 73 by Hasim. However, the large score was still not enough to claim victory as Hira CC Sabadell overtook the total with three wickets to spare. There were several notable batting contributions for the team from Sabadell, with the most outstanding being 59 by Mehmood Aktar. Nabeel bowled well for Barna, taking three wickets for 36 runs.
Match Two was a contest involving Hawks and Minhaj and it was the Hawks who took the spoils, whilst Match Three saw Cataluyna CC outlast Falco CC and Match Four resulted in a victory for Trinitat Stars over United CC.
Match Five was an entertaining affair between Farners and Olot Tigers. Both teams were all out for 81 so the game with decided with a super over. Farners emerged the winners thanks to a one wicket victory.
Match Six saw Hira Sabadell CC claim their second victory at the expense of Pak Montcada and in Match Seven Pak Youngsters overcame City Lions.
Match Eight was memorable for the first century of the competition, as Kuldeep Karan hit 111 not out in his teams total of 202 for 3. Ripoll Warriors (formerly Girona Warriors) could only muster 141 all out to give Gracia a convincing 61 run victory.
Match Nine confirmed the first semi finalists of the competition with Cataluyna CC’s victory over Pak Youngsters. Opener Yasir Ali scored 57 in his teams total of 195 for 7 and in reply the Youngsters managed 156 for 9 from their overs allocation. Armaghan Khan bowled an hostile opening spell that netted him three wickets for just 29 runs.
Match Ten confirmed a victory for Cataluyna Tigers over Friends XI and the final match in this update was a victory to PakiCare Badalona over Pak Barcelona, despite the heroics of the Pak Barcelona opener Mohsin who scored 54 off just 34 balls in an innings that included four x fours and four x sixes.
