COBRAS PREVAIL IN SEASON FINALE

by: conrad_a_bedford

The last game of the season saw PDC Cobras in action against Lanzarote Wolves. Batting first Cobras made 177 for 9 in their 35 overs, Gary Cooper top scoring with 48.

John Bailey the stand out bowler for Wolves with figures of 5 for 28 runs in his 6 overs. 178 a reachable target Wolves would have thought and a chance to record their second win over Cobras this season but once again some excellent bowling from V.Singh who blew the top order away and who finished with figures of 5 for 17, ably supported by Dean Burns with 3 for 18, restricted Wolves to 116 all out.

Only Charlie Cook offered any resistance making 58. Next up is our T20 tournament which promises to be very exciting as every team has a handful of match winning batsmen or bowlers who on their day can change a game or win a game on their own so it should be very competitive indeed !

The T20 tournament is followed by a number of touring teams from the UK once again playing in Lanzarote against several representative teams, our annual league champions v the best of the rest of the league match and this year for the first time our league champions will be going to La Manga, Spain to play in a champions league of Spanish regional sides so the cricket on Lanzarote continues well into the autumn.

Lastly hearty congratulations to St Georges on winning the league this season.
