On Friday the 26th of February, Madrid CC ran a successful coach the coaches session for PE teachers at Colegio Público Joaquin Turina.

Eight people attended, including PE teachers from three different schools.

The session kicked off in the classroom with Lewis Clark introducing the game, starting with a brief history of the sport both internationally and within Spain, continuing with the basic concepts and rules, and finishing off with an explanation of cricket equipment used by beginners and experienced players.

Mike Griggs ran through fielding, bowling and batting drills before running a Kwik cricket match of the type used in schools. The PE Teachers enthusiastically took to the new sport with a special mention for Nerea Saenz for some excellent batting and Lucy Espinoza for taking part with considerable agility despite being 8 months pregnant!

Next Friday, the 4th of March, Madrid CC will return to the school to help run a kids cricket day, together with the newly trained teachers.

During the session the kids cricket sets supplied by Cricket España will be presented to the teachers so that they can continue the sport on a regular basis.

A big thanks to Ana Maestro Fernandez, head of primary and infants, and Cristina Lorenzo Álvarez, head teacher, for allowing use of the facilities and encouraging teachers to attend.
