CATALUYNA WELCOME AUSSIES TO THE MONTJUIC
Cataluyna Cricket Club welcomed an Australian side to the Montjuic stadium in Barcelona this weekend and it was the Spanish side who emerged victorious.
Cataluyna batted first and scored 208 for 7 off their 35 overs. For the hosts Nisar Ahmed scored 55 and he was well supported by Asif (44) and Faisal (33). The Crusaders used a total of 8 bowlers, the pick of which was Aloni, who took 3 wickets for 23 off 3 overs.
In reply, the Australian team scored 104. They struggled to come to terms with the pace and direction of the Spanish international Armaghan Khan who took 4 wickets for 10 runs in an excellent 7 over spell. Khan will be hoping to reproduce this form in two weeks time when he his on international duty with the Spanish national side in Belgium.
Cataluyna came out eventual winners by 104 runs, as the Crusaders continue their tour throughout Europe before heading back to Oz later in the summer.

CATALUNYA CC TOO STRONG FOR CRUSADERS AUSTRALIA
Barcelona 12th of June 2011
Today catalunya cricket club won an easy match against crusaders Australia played at Barcelona. Catalunya cricket club were hosting a friendly series of two matches at Barcelona, where the Catalan team were proved to be very strong for the Australians.
The visiting team crusaders Australia arrived at Barcelona on 8
th june. The catalunya cc organized an official dinner on 9th of june at restaurant ESTERNA, Barcelona. The Counsellor General of Pakistan embassy Mr. Masud Khan Raza, the director general of sports of Catalunya Government Mr. Albert Marco, Mr. Angel colom, Mr Eric Bertran from the immigration department and Mr A.k. Nair the representative of LYCA MOBILE in Barcelona were present at the dinner in the honour of the visiting team along with different clubs representatives and Catalunya cricket club players.
The first game with crusaders were scheduled on 10
th June morning at 9.00 am, the first t-20 game started under showers, but lasted only 3 overs as the heavy rain forced to stop the play, kashib Bhatt the opening batsman of catalunya cc smashed the bowls delivered to him by crusaders bowlers, just in three overs catalunya cc were 33 at no loss, kashib butt hitting 3 sixes and 1 fours, and Armghan khan contributing with 11 runs. The match had to be called off as rain forced to stop it.
The second game of 35 overs played on Sunday 12
th of june. The game started at 10.00 am, catalunya cc won the toss and decided to bat first, again the opening batsmen gave a very good start to catalunya cc and asif zia (44 runs), nissar ahmed (55 runs) and faisal (33 runs) were the the main pillars for catalunya cc bating side, and gave an unbeatable challenge to crusaders giving a total of 208 runs to chase.
Crusaders batting inning never mounted, all the batsmen struggled against catalunya cc bowlers, especially against kashib bhutt, kulwant singh and armghan khan who took 4 wickets, farakh was another successful bowler taking 2 wickets. All the Australian team was limited to only 104 runs in the total inning of 35 overs.
Mr. Angel Colom along with Mr. Eric Bertran , Mr. Robert Masih and Mr. Khalid Shabaz, presented the shields to both the captains and appreciated their efforts. Later on Mr. Robert Masih paid his regards and thanked the visiting team, for making their efforts to come to Barcelona, and all the catalunya cc players for their demonstration for a good cricket match.
