BATTING PRACTICE FOR SPORTING ALFAS
Sporting Alfas Cricket Club entertained Biggar CC from Scotland and enjoyed the day with 4 players retiring on 50+. The game started with Spencer holing out early caught in the deep for only 7 runs, Climent his partner batted well and when Muñoz joined him the score raced to 120 before both retired.
Crompton and Ul Rehman walked out and Crompton watched in disbelieve as Ul Rehman, Ali and Marshall fell quickly without really bothering the scorers. Laundon joined Compton and the pair carried on with Crompton spanking the ball to all corners of the Woodbridge Oval. Crompton´s 50 coming in less than 5 over’s time to retire and let Pennick join the fun.
With 200+ on the board the SACC captains slowed the run rate down and scored their 50´s leisurely, before Laundon missed a slow full toss and seemed to be walking to the hut before an appeal was made out stumped and then Pennick took a single and sprinted back to the hut.
Roper and Taylor had the last 3 over’s to play with and hit a few before Roper holed out with 2 balls of the inning left. 319 – 6. Bowling honours went to first time tourist Flynn Stuart who got rid of the middle order.
SACC bowlers got stuck in to the visiting batsmen with Roper and Taylor both taking early wickets Roper coming off best with 3 for 31 from 5 overs. Taylor bamboozled the batsmen and returned figures of 1 for 21 from 8, realistically unlucky figures.
Pennick replaced Roper and removed Adams in his 2nd over, part timer Marshall enjoyed a bowl and took 2 wickets for 14 runs from his 3 over’s.
Then that man Flynn Stuart walked in and caused havoc hitting the ball all over the place and along with Jardine rescued the Biggar team putting on 70+ for the last wicket a club record
Stuart hit 91 a club touring record and the team reached 191 which was another club tour record. Flynn was unlucky not to reach his hundred but Crompton bowled him just nine runs short. A great end to an enjoyable day at the Woodbridge Oval.
