Badalona Shaheen completed a comprehensive victory over City Lions last weekend with an 118 run victory in the latest Cataluyna League game.
Shaheen batted first and posted a mammoth 289 for five in their innings. Dilawar completed a fine unbeaten half century and he was sensibly supported in the middle of the innings by Farrukh (50) and Sajawal (24).
This was all after the openers Bilawal (49) and Mustafa (35) had given Shaheen a solid start in a fine opening partnership. Anique was the pick of the City Lions bowlers taking two wickets for 57 runs in his five over spell.
City Lions tried pluckily to run down the total with required them to score eleven runs an over as their innings commenced. The loss of wickets at key times hindered their chase and they finally finished on 171 all out. The standout innings was from Cheema who hit an unbeaten 55. For Shaheen Mustafa bagged five wickets and Adeel Junior contributed with another four.
Shaheen now sit top of Group B with three wins from four, but their conquerers Friends XI remain unbeaten after two games with 20 points. Previous Cataluyna winners City Lions are now routed at the bottom of the table, winless after three games.
