Almazora and Madrid II converged on the neutral ground of Pinatar yesterday for the latest game in the ECCL Development League.
The team from Almeria batted first and only managed a score of 50 in just 13.3 overs much to their disappointment. Jahan was the top scorer for the Desert Springs based club with 19, whilst Spanish born Victor Medina got his first ever league wicket for Madrid in a tidy spell of bowling that saw him finish with figures of one for ten from five overs.
As expected, Madrid had little trouble in reaching their target. In the end they won by eight wickets, surpassing the Almazora score in the sixteenth over. The openers Karthik Balu (31) and David Stirton (12 not out) put on 47 for the first wicket, before two quick wickets fell at the death.
Madrid take maximum points from the game and face a tougher task against Pinatar tomorrow, whilst Amazora went back to Almeria with two points. They are scheduled to play Sporting Alfas II at Desert Springs next week in what could be another tough encounter.
