ALFAS WIN THE LEAGUE
Alcorcon´s crushing loss to La Manga this weekend handed the league title to Sporting Alfas who have been the most consitent club all season
Alcorcon needed to win all the remaining games convincingly to have any hope of overtaking the Albir based club but a depleted side were no match for the La Manga bowling attack as their league title challenge faded in the Murcia sunshine.
Alcorcon batted first and scored a season low 45 with dangerman Tariq Ali out without scoring. Spanish opening bowler was in scintalating form as he took 6 for 12 in a fierce example of pace bowling.
La Manga only needed 7 overs to surpass the Alcorcon total, although they did lose the wicket of Joel Brook, who was run out for 4.
Alcorcon were pointless from the game, whilst La Manga took 19 points from the match. In the other ECCL 1 league match scheduled for La Manga Valencia called off the game on Friday so Madrid United were awarded the game.
