Sporting Alfas I completed a perfect season by winning their eighth and final match against Alcorcon to remain unbeaten throughout this season’s league campaign.
Alfas won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Pennick and Brook both fell with the score on 12. That brought together Adam Algar and Gary Crompton. The pair added 69 before Algar fell for 35, but Crompton continued his assault on the Alcorcon bowlers and went through the innings unbeaten, finally finishing on 103. Alfas entered the interval with 220 for 7 posted on the scoreboard.
Alcorcon’s response was positive and openers Akmal and Tariq Ali started well. Ali, the Spanish international was the first to go when on 16, caught by Keiran Perman off the bowling of his former international team mate Mohib Hussein.
Akmal continued to play his shots as wickets fell at the other end. He was finally out for 63. Khan (31) and Zahid (37) helped to push the visitors score towards the required total but the Alfas bowling proved too strong and finally the side from Madrid were dismissed for 201.
Mohib took three wickets for 23 and Gary Crompton crowned off a great all round performance by also bagging three wickets for the cost of 37 runs.
Sporting Alfas 220 for 7 (18 points) beat Alcorcon 201 all out (6 points) by 19 runs.
