Both La Manga and Sporting Alfas won a game each this last weekend in a Twenty/Twenty double header at the La Manga based ground. In the first game La Manga batted first and reached a modest total of 141 all out, with the last wicket falling with just three balls left of their overs allocation. Joel Brook top scored for the home side with 48, whilst all rounder Atif Ali made a telling contribution of 41 runs in quick time to give the final score a respectable look. For Alfas, Christian Munoz Mills took three wickets and a good performance in the field by the visitors was rewarded with three run outs.

Alfas looked good value for victory initially but some tight, economical bowling from the home team restricted the visitors to just 130 for 6 off their quota of overs. The 11 run victory for La Manga was especially hard on Alfas batsman Gary Crompton who had Alfas a great platform early on with a sparkling 63. First blood to the local side.

After the interval came out to bat looking purposeful and posted a score of 126 for 7 with both Phil Pennick and Christian Munoz-Mills making notable contributions. La Manga must have felt confident of making it two wins from two but they got off to a dreadful start that they never really recovered from. David Williams (31) and Guppy Singh (23) tried hard to chase down the total but with very little support from their team mates they were all out for 87. Jamie Roper bowled exceptionally well, taking 3 wickets as the visitors cruised comfortably in the end to a 39 run victory.
