Pinatar Pirates I continiued their winning form to keep the pressure on league leaders Madrid Star at the top of the ECCL Premier Division.
Hosts Alcorcon won the toss and put Pinatar into bat on a sunny day in La Manga. Gopi Singh was in fine form for the visitors as he hit a sparkling 93. He was well supported by Vikash Singh (64) as Pinatar gained maximum batting points by making a total of 278 for 6 from their allocated overs.
Former Spanish international Tariq Ali had the Pinatar bowlers worried at the start of the innings with some swashbuckling shots. The first wicket fell at 33 and fellow opener Muhammad Akmal was still to get of the mark when he was caught by Harmit Phull off the bowling of Vikash Singh.
Ali went o to make 88, but with his departure the game swung the way of the Pirates and Alcorcon were finally all out for 234. Farhat Mahmood was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 22 runs.
Pinatar took maximum points from the game whilst Alcorcon had to be content with 7 points from the game.
