After news filtered through that Sporting Alfas had beat La Manga and won the league the day before Alcorcon and Madrid United met up at La Manga hoping to put themselves in prime position for the runners up spot.
Madrid United batted first and the accumulated their full quota of batting points by posting a total of 265 for 9. Rizwan Shah top scored for United with a fine century.
With the pitch playing true Alcorcon approached the required score with a quiet confidence and with Tariq Ali back among the runs they managed to surpass United’s total with three wickets to spare.
Ali scored a swashbuckling 74, that included eight sixes before being caught by Rizwan Nazir with a brilliant diving catch. However, the top scorer for Alcorcon on the day was Mazhar Abbass who scored 78. Final points tally was 19 points for Alcorcon and 8 points for United.
