Alcorcon arguably had their best ever result last weekend when they convincingly took care of La Manga CC by 188 runs to consolidate second spot in the ECCL premier league.
La Manga won the toss and elected to field. Their hopes of getting out dangerman Tariq Ali early after a cricket hiatus for both clubs soon faded and the Spanish International went on to score a fantastic century that was the mainstream of his sides 242 all out.
Sajid Ali bowled well for home team and there was a welcome return to action for Tom Vine, who ended up with the economical figures of 2-21 from his spell.
The La Manga batting looked a shadow of what it was last year when they were the National club runners up and they were skittled out for a paltry 54 runs, failing to score any batting points in the process. THere were three wickets a piece for Mudassar, Kumar and Abbas, as the Madrid based side took 19 points from the games and La Manga just 5 bowling points.
Next weekend Madrid CC visit La Manga for two games and they will be hoping to catch La Manga at a vunerable time in order to secure their first league win of the season.
