Spain Development X1 V Irish Cricket Union U15
Ireland won toss and decided to bat with the openers making a fine start after some wayward bowling by the Spanish bowlers, Ben Girling produce a good delivery in the middle of his spell to bowl one of the Irish openers, but Ireland continued to bat well until Alfie Harris took the wicket of McBride for 44.Harris finished with 3 wickets and was the pick of the Spanish bowlers, ably assisted by Garside and Munoz-Mills who both produced some fine tight bowling. Ireland continued to score at a slow rate, finding it difficult to score against some the niggling line and length of spin bowler Tom Foster, who finished with the respectable figures of 1-19 off 6 overs.Ireland finished their innings on 185 for 7 wkts.
Spain got off to a disastrous start loosing its 2 openers with just 12 runs on the board but some steady batting by consistent batsmen Mat Winter (27) and newcomer to the Spanish team Michael Garside put Spain back into the game. Garside made a fine 61 and this left a great platform for Spain’s middle order to finish the game which they did with a unbeaten partnership of 51 by T.Foster 30 Not Out and Sam Eadington 4 Not Out. Ireland did take the game to the last over but a confident hit to the boundary by Tom Foster clinched the game for Spain winning by 5 Wkts.
