GEORGE WAMBEEK STEPS DOWN AS DIRECTOR OF CRICKET

25th October 2012

PRESS RELEASE

It is with some regret that Cricket España announces that George Wambeek has decided, after some 8 years, to stand down as the Director of Cricket for Spain. George is well known throughout Europe for his support and hard work on behalf of Spanish Cricket and indeed under his watch the development of cricket throughout Spain has gone from strength to strength.

He leaves his post knowing that much has been achieved during his term in office and his efforts have been appreciated by cricketers not just in Spain but throughout Europe as a whole. The highly successful development of cricket at La Manga has been largely due to George and no doubt he will continue with his infectious support for La Manga CC.

However, although he gives up the appointment of Director of Cricket he will continue as the Cricket España Liaison Officer for La Manga Club Resort and will remain, for the time being, as the first point of contact for Cataluña Cricket. Moreover George will take on the full responsibility, both administration and management, of the National over 40’s and over 60’s teams. So we will still see a lot of George on and around the cricket fields of Spain.

Cricket España would like to take this opportunity to thank George for his undying support of Spanish Cricket and to place on record our thanks for his dedication and hard work in support of cricket over many years.

Neil Brook will step into the role of director of cricket with immediate effect and CE wish Neil well in continuing all the good work that George has laid the foundations to.
