The Intelectuals cricket club of Alicante returned to Spain after a successful tour of the United Kingdom, in which they remained undefeated, and also took in the 4th N Power test between England and Pakistan at Lords.

The Intellectuals kicked off their tour on the 27th August at Roeburn Cricket Ground against a CIPA XI. CIPA batted first and accumulated a total of 142 for 7 off their allocated overs. In reply the Intellectuals chased down the runs for the loss of three wickets, with Phil Pennick scoring 67 not out for the tourists before retiring.

Next up on the Saturday the Intellectuals turned cricket spectators and took in a full days play at Lords between Pakistan and England. It was the 4th day of the N Power 4th test. With England in complete control the visitors saw the final six Pakistani wickets fall, as England triumphed by an innings and 225 runs.

The final match of the tour the Intellectuals visited Richmond Park to play the Churchill Arms Cricket Club. Churchill were well contained by the Intellectuals bowling and could only muster 98 all out when batting.

The Intellectuals struggled to overcome the small total and scraped home with one wicket to spare. Chris Horne´s telling 13 not out combined with his bowling figures of 3 for 10 off 6.5 overs, gave him the Intellectuals man of the match nomination.

Following their successful tour of the UK the Intellectuals now have chance to prove themselves on the home front with two games in relatively quick succession. They have  friendly against Torreveija on Sunday the 12th at Bonalba  and then they are back in league acrion the following weekend with a tough league game against Alcorcon, the Madrid based club who are at the top of the development league.
