Sporting Alfas produced another win in the ECCL Premier Division to keep well and truely in the hunt to retain the title that they won last year.
Madrid United batted first and were all out in the 28th over for just 110 as the Alfas bowlers took complete control. Only four batsmen made double figures for the team from the capital with Quyum top scoring for thirty. All of the five used bowlers by Alfas took wickets for the home side to set their team up for another maximum points victory.
However, Madrid United made sure Alfas did not have things their own way by taking four wickets, and thus allowing the home side to secure just four batting points. Opener Kevin Laundon did his job well and was still at the crease at the end of the Alfas innings on 29 not out, but it was Adam Alger who was the mainstay of the innings. He made 46 before being stumped. Skipper Ittifaq Ahmed was the pick of the United bowlers taking two wickets for the cost of just eleven runs.
With Pinatar taking maximum points the day before the top of the table is very close. Alfas have the points on the board but Pinatar have games in hand. If the Pirates do happen to win all their games convincingly then they will be crowned this year's ECCL Champions.
Sporting Alfas 111 for 4 beat Madrid United 110 all out by 10 wickets.
