Levante Report on the game...
Levante struggle in the heat.
Madrid Stars were welcomed to the VCG on Sunday 4th September and after winning the toss asked the Levante bowlers to toil in the 40º temperatures, The dangerous batsmen Hamayoun made a solid start, but was dropped twice and it proved costly as he provided a backbone to the innings, Levante made headway but the Madrid middle order started swinging and 50s for Hamayoun, Zeeshan and Asif took them to 327 for 9 after 45 overs, the Levante bowlers were glad to find some shade after a hard 3 hours in the sun. 3/65 for Tivey, 2/55 for Spears, the only bowlers who completed their 9 overs.
The short boundaries and fast outfield at the VCG give hope for any run chase and in previous seasons records have been set and broken on numerous occasions, the Levante batsmen were confident on their home ground but some tight bowling, sharp fielding and rash shots saw the Levante batsmen come and go with little to trouble the scorer, Nisar Mughal having been promoted to number 5 was duly dropped on 0, but made the most of the lifeline and was the only player to provide any resistance, a hard earned, cleanly struck 50, his first for the club.
Levante have two games remaining, both at home and hope to finish a season of ups and downs on a positive note.
