CATALUYNA LEAGUE ROUND UP

27th July 2016

Five games were played in the Cataluyna League last weekend as the four group tables begin to take shape.

Two games were played in Group A. In the first match Minhaj Cricket Club easily beat Espluges CC by six wickets. Espluges could only manage 167 in their twenty five overs and Minhaj chased the total down with four overs to spare.

The other Group A game was the top of the table clash between Cataluyna CC and Badalona Shaheen. Cataluyna batted first and scored 133 for 6 from their over allocation. In reply Shaheen only managed 118 all out to fall to a fifteen run defeat.

Cataluyna with three wins from three and Minhaj with two wins from two are the only two unbeaten teams left in Group A. Shaheen also have 20 points, like Minhaj, but have played a game more and Espluges are the only other team with points in this league, after their sole victory in four games with their win over Coalesce. La Selva and Coalesce round off Group A, both being pointless after playing one game and three games respectively.

There was one game in Group B last weekend that Sant Andreu won by a 59 run margin over Bengali. Batting First Andreu amassed a total of 145 for 6 in their 25 overs. In reply Bengali were all out for 86 runs.

Youngsters are the top of that table with 25 points, followed by Sant Andreu on 20 points, both have played three games. Girona Warriors have one win from one game and Bengali also have one win and ten points, although they have played three games in total. Ravel Sporting with five points from three games and United CC with their single loss to the Warriors early in the season round off the Group B table.

Two games were also played in Group C last weekend. Cataluyna Tigers took care of Farners in a 71 run victory and Girona ran out winners over City Lions by a comprehensive nine wickets. Girona, Cataluyna Tigers and City Lions look to be the teams fighting out for the top spots, whilst Farmers, Bangladesh CC and Olot Tigers seem destined to battle for the minor placings in Group C this time round.

There were no matches in Group D last weekend so the placings remain unchanged. Santa Coloma Friends top the league on 25 points followed by Hawks CC on 15 points. Joint third are Barcelona CC and El Carmen with 10 points from two games and Gracia sit at the bottom of the table, winless from two attempts.
