The Coach Inn returned to the Woodbridge Oval for the season closing weekend and struggled with the unexpected sunlight and obvious late nights that our area is renowned for.
Winning the toss and asking SACC to set a score was possible the biggest shock of the day as SACC amassed 275 runs from the 30 overs for the loss of no wickets and 5 batsmen retiring with 50 plus runs or more.
Enjoying tea whilst the Coach Inn skipper tried hard to explain to the home team that never before had such a large total been set without the loss of a wicket.
Umpire Pitts helping the skipper with a ¨wickets fell only Climent limped going off¨ although the umpire at the other end was informed of the catastrophically bad luck our batsmen had on or around 50, all claiming a pulled fetlock, all except Jamie Roper (Boycott 38) who had to be removed physically after trying to stay the whole game with out reaching 50.
After tea things went further down hill for the visitors as part timer Antonio Brown on his return from a serious tour off the Guinness region took 3 for 12 from his 6 overs and a new player at cricket Dell returned 1 for 19 from his six overs.
Another newby Locke held his nerve with a selection of quality spin and long hops to return figures of 1 for 28 from also six overs.
Shockingly Paul Taylor was thrashed around for 32 off two overs before getting out top scorer M Jones on 45. However the bravery of SACC skipper paid off as he peservered and gave the old fellow time to settle and he finished with respectable figure of 4 for 38 off 4.3 overs.
A quick mention of the skill of wicket keeper Brook taking three catches and a good stumping, a great effort from our stand in keeper.
Well done to all SACC players for insuring the match was played in the correct spirit.
