La Manga II obtained the victory they required to leap frog over Intellectuals CC to head the ECCL Developement league at the half way stage of the season.
In a remarkable game that saw La Manga batting first, the local side were in trouble, tottering at 80 for 8, before Banks and the evergreen George Wambeek came together and put on 101 for the ninth wicket to give La Manga a final respectable score of 181 for 9 off 42.1 overs.
Banks ended the innings not out on 64 whilst Wambeek contributed 27 useful runs in what turned out to be a match winning partnership. Dhawane was the pick of the bowlers bagging four wickets for 38 runs.
In reply Madrid could only muster 102 all out, with Goldsmith scoring 32 of the runs. Tom Vine put in an exceptional spell of bowling to bag three wickets for just six runs.
The victory edges La Manga to the top of the table, but Sporting Alfas and La Manga Kings will be both looking to gain ground on the leaders when they match up against each other at the Woodbridge Oval next weekend.
