Spanish Cricketer’s join with Sussex CCC at Desert Springs Resort.
Four of the bowling squad from the Spanish National cricket side spent Wednesday morning training on the new grass net facilities at Desert Springs Resort (near Vera) as guests of Sussex County Cricket Club.
Sussex currently have their first team bowling squad undertaking 12 days of intense strength and conditioning, fielding and bowling drills under the supervision of Mark Davis, the first team bowling coach.
Farhat Mahmood, Talat Ali, Atif Ali and Sajid Ali were invited to join in a three hour training session which included some one to one tuition from former England seamer Jonathan Lewis and former Pakistan A international Ash Zaidi, and also saw them bowl in pairs to all of the Sussex players over an intense 90 minute session.
All of the players found the whole morning a tremendous experience in respect of bowling on a great quality grass surface and all of them felt it provided them a great insight into the routines undertaken by professional cricketers.
Special thanks must go to Mark Davis and the entire Sussex squad for their time and hospitailty today.
