ALFAS END THE LEAGUE SEASON ON A WINNING NOTE

6th August 2013

Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 2nd XI (79 for 1) beat Intellectuals CC (75 all out) by 9 wickets

Sporting Alfas won the toss and asked the Intellectuals to set a score. Braithwaite and Roper gave the Albir side a steady start with only 19 runs scored and 2 wickets taken from the first 13 overs. Ashraf and Perman kept up the good work and the running total was almost at a stand still.

Keiren Perman bowling his allowed 6 overs for only 10 runs including 4 maidens and took the wicket of the normally hard hitting Anwar. Waqar Ashraf bowled his 8 over spell for only 20 runs and got out Prior. The return of Roper had the desired effect although he was very unlucky not to get more than his three wicket haul as the ball kept falling short of the fielders hands.

Stand in Skipper Laundon finished off the innings with 3 quick wickets for only 3 runs. After the first over, a maiden, runs came quickly for the Alfas openers and 38 was reached before McKinstry(6) steered one to first slip with a little help from Wicket keeper McGarry´s leg in the eighth over.

Roper then joined Marriner and the pair took control and the required runs came in the 15th over. Sporting Alfas 2nd´s 20 points, whilst the Intellectuals got a solitary point from the game.
